Ontario town institutes spay and neuter voucher program

The town of LaSalle, Ont., has launched a voucher program to support the spaying and neutering of feral cats. Under the new initiative, caregivers of feral cats who qualify as low-income residents can opt in to receive a $50 voucher. While the initial phase of the project began in Feb., 2024, the second phase has commenced this month.

Lac Seul First Nation and OSPCA collaborate on spay/neuter clinic

Lac Seul First Nation, in partnership with the Ontario SPCA (OSPCA), successfully spayed or neutered over 60 animals—37 cats and 25 dogs—during a community animal wellness Frenchman’s Head, Ont. The clinic’s efforts will help prevent an estimated 3,000 unplanned puppies and kittens. In addition to the spay/neuter procedures, the event offered 30 animal wellness appointments, during which 159 vaccines were administered.

Spay/neuter campaign helps aid in pet crisis in Ecuador

For three years, Bainbridge and his Dundas West Animal Hospital team have participated in four sterilization programs in Ecuador. To date, they have helped sterilize more than 1,000 animals.
