With Canadians heading to the polls on April 28, the BC SPCA is calling on federal parties and candidates to commit to stronger animal welfare policies.

New Ontario legislation targets puppy mills

The Ontario provincial government announced The Preventing Unethical Puppy Sales Act (PUPS Act), a novel legislative endeavour against unethical dog breeding operations. Posed as an amendment to the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act (PAWS Act), the PUPS Act will curb harmful dog breeding practices and impose penalties.
