No more tail docking for manitoba veterinarians

Veterinarians in Manitoba will no longer be allowed to perform tail docking on dogs after an overwhelming vote by members of the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA). The decision came during the association’s recent annual general meeting, where a bylaw amendment was passed to immediately prohibit the controversial practice.

Former TV vet announces clinic closure

North of 55 Veterinary Services, the sole veterinary clinic in Thompson, Man., will be closing its doors permanently at the end of this year. The clinic’s veterinarian, Keri Hudson Reykdal, DVM—known for Dr. Keri: Prairie Vet, a three-season Animal Planet Canada documentary series—announced the clinic would cease operations as of Dec. 31, 2024.

Manitoba names new chief veterinary officer

Winnipeg Humane Society seizes more than 130 small dogs

The Winnipeg Humane Society (WHS) is overwhelmed with the number of animals in its care following a recent seizure of over 130 small dogs from a Winnipeg, Man., residence. The WHS is working closely with the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian-Animal Welfare (OPV-AW) to provide shelter and care for these dogs.
