Albert Dehn, DVM, and his wife willed to his alma mater, Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), $12.6 million—the largest single gift ever.
Dr. Dehn graduated with a veterinary degree from the East Lansing, Mich., school in 1950 and went back to his hometown of Abbotsford, Wis., where he spent his whole career primarily treating dairy cows.
It was the Dehn’s wish that the endowment be used to beef up the CVM’s education program by adding several faculty chairs.
The Albert C. and Lois E. Dehn chairs—one in large animal science and one in pathobiology and diagnostic investigations—will be established at the CVM in 2017. The college is identifying qualified candidates for these initial chairs.
