Canadian pet food and supplies retailer Pet Valu’s recent Pet Appreciation Month achieved a record-breaking total of over $2.2 million in monetary and product donations. The sum benefits more than 400 animal-related causes across Canada and represents the highest amount raised since the event's inception in 2011.

Nova Scotia increases veterinary education funding

In order to address the growing demand for veterinarians, the Government of Nova Scotia has announced its intent to increase its veterinary education investment. Starting this fall, 24 first-year seats at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island will be reserved for Nova Scotia residents—a notable increase from the previous allocation of 16 seats.

A joint venture between South Korean wireless telecommunications operator SK Telecom (SKT) and Canadian digital veterinary diagnostic imaging service distributors Nuon Imaging and Nikki Health Solutions, introduces a new AI-driven veterinary diagnostic assistance service, ‘X Caliber.’ The collaboration aims to roll out 'X Caliber' across more than 100 veterinary hospitals throughout Canada, leveraging the integration of Nuon Nikki's veterinary imaging software, Skyline PACS (Picture Archiving & Communication System) for Vets.

RVT leads Toronto Humane Society’s latest strategic initiative

Further Calgary Stampede injuries, third horse euthanized

Another horse competing in the Calgary Stampede was recently euthanized after sustaining an injury during a race—marking the third horse to be euthanized due to injuries at this year’s event. The Calgary Stampede, an annual event featuring on of the world’s largest rodeos, has already come under fire from non-profit organization Animal Justice Canada Legislative Fund, who have called for animal cruelty charges to be laid at Calgary Stampede events.
