Veterinary telemedicine company Vetster has expanded its virtual veterinary support program to PetSmart stores across Canada.

The partnership gives associates at more than 140 PetSmart locations direct access to licensed veterinarians through Vetster’s secure virtual care platform.

In a press release, Vetster reported the expansion responds to growing demand for fast, trusted veterinary guidance. The company also said the program offers a new way to support pet health in retail settings.

“Pet health and safety is our top priority,” says Rob Pace, senior vice president of enterprise services and president of PetSmart Veterinary Services. “Our associates play an important role in safeguarding the health and well-being of the pets we care for. Expanding this program across Canada gives our teams quick access to expert veterinary advice when they need it.”

The program already operates in more than 500 PetSmart stores in the U.S. Vetster CEO Mark Bordo said the partnership has shown immediate access to veterinary expertise can improve outcomes for pets.

According to Vetster, veterinarians can address many common pet health concerns through virtual care. These include vomiting, diarrhea, skin and ear conditions, minor injuries, allergies, anxiety, and parasite prevention.
