CVMA launches new mentorship program
Fifty-five veterinarians and student veterinarians will receive complimentary access to the pilot program, valued at approximately $600 USD

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) is inviting members to participate in the inaugural year of its enhanced bilingual mentorship program, Leading Edge for Veterinarians. The program, developed in collaboration with the Lincoln Institute of Veterinary Business, aims to support early and mid-career veterinarians across Canada by providing a unique opportunity for professional growth and connection.
The initiative has already seen success globally, with over 1,600 participants from 27 countries graduating from the evidence-based, RACE-approved mentorship program. Developed by veterinarians for veterinarians, it focuses on improving various aspects of professional life, including stress resilience, career fulfillment, workplace culture, leadership skills, clinical outcomes, and business outcomes.
Through the mentorship pilot, participants will have access to an online community guided by experienced veterinary mentors and coaches, offering advice on wellness and business-related topics.
The CVMA seeks early-career veterinarians (one to three years post-graduation), mid-career professionals (four to 10 years post-graduation), or those transitioning into new career paths to apply. Applications are encouraged from a wide range of professionals, including those working in urban or rural practices, private or corporate settings, and various specialties such as companion animal, mixed animal, specialty, industry, or government.
The organization also encourages participation from individuals from equity-deserving groups, including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, internationally trained veterinarians, and those who identify as neurodivergent.
Fifty-five veterinarians and student veterinarians will receive complimentary access to the pilot program, valued at approximately $600 USD. This will include one year of access to the RACE-approved modules and professional coaching, set to begin on April 1, 2025.
The deadline for registration is February 14, 2025. Those selected must agree to certain terms, including committing to up to three hours per month of engagement, attending at least six Deep Dive webinars, completing surveys, and providing feedback on their experience. Participants will also be required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and pay a nominal fee, which will be reimbursed upon completion of the program.
Further information is available on the CVMA website.
