Yukon to receive new veterinary telemedicine service
Ontario-based online platform to connect Yukon farmers with real-time remote services
Ontario-based VETSon, an online veterinary platform seeking to connect farmers to veterinarians, has recently announced its intentions to expand into the Yukon. Yukon residents using VETSon will have access to veterinarians in Ontario for real-time, remote services, including virtual on-farm visits, coordination of medication and supply orders, and reliable, traceable records.
Launched in 2022, by father-son duo Glen Yates, DVM, and Colin Yates, PhD, VETSon is designed to help veterinary practices serve their clients more efficiently and connect animal owners to veterinary services in areas lacking local options.
“Like many parts of Canada, the Yukon faces an extreme shortage of access to veterinary services, impacting the livelihood of farmers and animal owners, and the health and wellbeing of their animals,” Colin Yates, VETSon CEO and co-founder, says. “Expanding our services to this region will help bring timely virtual veterinary care by leveraging veterinarians in Ontario to provide their telemedicine expertise to help farmers as well as horse owners.”
