University of Guelph alumni Lloyd and Elaine Burrow have donated $600,000 to the Ontario Veterinary College’s Pet Trust campaign to support construction of the new Medical and Surgical Learning Centre (MSLC). The two-storey facility is designed to expand hands-on training for veterinary students, including surgical procedures, dentistry, and community health programs.

In recognition of their gift, several spaces in the MSLC will be named in honour of the couple’s pets, including rooms dedicated to clinicians, patients, and students. The Burrows, long-time supporters of animal welfare, previously contributed to the renovation of the Companion Animal Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Lloyd Burrow said the donation reflects both gratitude for care received by their dogs at OVC and a desire to strengthen the profession as a whole. OVC Dean Jeff Wichtel noted the contribution will help accommodate more students and enhance their clinical skills.
