Two red panda cubs at the Calgary Zoo need names, and the facility is asking for the public’s help.
Born this past June, the twins—a male and a female—made their public debut in October. The theme for their names is “the sun,” both due to their fiery red coats and in honour of their mother, Udaya (Nepali for “dawn”).
Options for voting include:
- Anshu (male, pronounced “UN-shoe”), meaning “ray of the sun,” and Aahana (female, pronounced “a-HAW-nah”), meaning “first ray of sun”
- Ravi (male, pronounced RA-vy), meaning “sun,” and Sundari (female, pronounced “SOON-duh-ree), meaning “beautiful”
Voting closes at noon MST on Dec. 18. To vote, click here.
