A young seal is recovering at Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary in Norfolk, UK, after being found abandoned with a broken jaw. Named Bonnie, the seal’s injury was so bad that the veterinarian who worked on her Chris Tansley, of the Coastal Veterinary Group in Snettisham, UK, said he had only seen such injuries on cats who had had a bad fall or been hit by a car, according to the Wisbech Standard.
“She probably got in the way of an unfriendly adult and got bitten on the chin,” Kieran Copeland, a seal care expert, told the Wisbech Standard. “Hers is a particularly nasty injury, and one we’ve not come across before in many years of seal rescue, but we are hopeful she will make a full recovery.”
It didn’t take long to fix her injury, and now Bonnie is living at the sanctuary. Being so young, she has to be fed a formula of fish soup. No word on if she’ll be released to the wild when she is old enough.
