IDEXX CEO on medical leave after cycling accident

Company executive vice-president will assume responsibilities in an interim role

Jonathan Ayers, president, CEO, and chair of IDEXX Laboratories, has taken a leave of absence following a serious bicycling accident on June 27.

Jay Mazelsky, executive vice-president, will serve in an interim role, assuming Ayers’ day-to-day management responsibilities, with support from the company’s CFO Brian McKeon and Larry Kingsley, independent lead director of IDEXX’s board.

“First and foremost, we support Jon and his family, and wish him a speedy and full recovery,” Kingsley says. “Jon is a passionate, dedicated, and well respected leader of IDEXX. Jon has expressed his confidence in Jay, Brian, and IDEXX’s talented leadership team to continue to advance the company’s purpose to enhance the health and well-being of pets, people, and livestock.
