Henry Schein Financial, CareCredit embark on multi-year agreement

The partnership will make it easier for pet owners to pay their veterinary bills

A new agreement between Henry Schein Financial Services (HSFS) and CareCredit makes it easier for pet owners to pay their veterinary bills.

CareCredit of Costa Mesa, Calif., offers a healthcare credit card that is honored by more than 200,000 medical, dental and veterinary clinics and health-related retailers in the United States.

“CareCredit is different from a typical credit card,” said Chris Munzing, spokesman for Henry Schein Inc. “[It] provides patient financing services, which help veterinary clients pay expenses by extending financing options not always obtainable using credit cards, such as long-term payment plans.”

CareCredit’s own market research shows that half of those who did not have a CareCredit card would consider getting one if it allowed them to buy a desired healthcare service or product on the spot.

Integrated with Software

In addition, CareCredit will be fully integrated with Henry Schein’s small animal practice management software, AVImark and ImproMed Infinity, and its equine practice software, ImproMed Triple Crown.

The new service will be rolled out through a dual marketing program, as well as promoted by Henry Schein’s U.S. sales force.

“For some, the biggest obstacle to obtaining treatment may be financing for … procedures and services that may not be covered by insurance,” said Keith Drayer, vice president, HSFS.

Focus on Quality

“At Henry Schein, we offer an array of business solutions and our agreement with CareCredit further demonstrates our commitment to help our customers operate more efficient practices so they can focus on delivering quality patient care,” Drayer added.

Henry Schein Financial Services of Melville, N.Y., provides medical equipment leasing and financing, credit card services, staffing and other services for veterinarians and other healthcare practitioners.
