Olds College of Agriculture & Technology in Alta. has secured a $168,000 scholarship grant for veterinary technology diploma students completing their 2026 summer and fall practicums.

CEWIL Canada’s iHUB and the Government of Canada’s Innovative Work-Integrated Learning Initiative support the funding. CEWIL is Canada’s leading organization for work-integrated learning (WIL).

Students in the college’s Veterinary Technology Diploma program may reportedly receive up to $1,800 to cover practicum-related expenses. The scholarship will help students focus more fully on their learning experiences and pursue placements in communities where their skills are most needed. It will also reduce the financial pressures that often come with unpaid placements, the college says.

The College’s Career Services and Work-Integrated Learning Office will administer grant applications.

“Canada’s future prosperity depends on a skilled, adaptable workforce,” says Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families, and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency of Northern Ontario, in a report by Education News Canada. Hands-on learning opportunities like those offered by Olds College give Canadians the skills and experience they need to succeed, she adds.
