Canadian students excel at AVMA Animal Welfare Contest
A total of seven awards were presented to Canadian students and veterinary colleges during the event

Canadian veterinary students dominated the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA) Animal Welfare Assessment Contest at the University of Wisconsin, bringing home seven awards for their performance.
In the Veterinary Student Division, the top-placing team in the Interactive Assessment category was Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), Team 1. For overall team placements, AVC, Team 2 secured first place, followed by Ontario Veterinary College in second place, and AVC, Team 1 in third place.
In the Graduate Student Division, the University of Guelph (UofG) was the top-placing team in the Interactive Assessment category. In the overall individual category, Anna Nicklas from the UofG placed third, while the UofG team took first place.
“We extend our sincere congratulations to all award recipients, and we acknowledge the tremendous amount of time and dedication required to participate in such a high-level competition,” the CVMA said in a statement.
