Indigenous veterinarians take centre stage in new docuseries

Season one of the show, premiering Sep. 2, will consist of 13 episodes

APTN debuts Wild Rose Vet, a new docuseries following the daily lives of three Indigenous veterinarians in Western Canada. The show offers a unique blend of heartwarming stories and medical challenges to paint a picture of the human-animal bond against the backdrop of rural mixed animal veterinary practice.

Among the featured veterinarians is Cori Stephen, DVM, owner of Nechako Valley Animal Health Services in Vanderhoof, B.C., and board member of the Society of British Columbia Veterinarians.

“My love for animals and their people is what led me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine,” says Stephen in conversation with CKPGToday.ca “As a veterinarian working in a small town, every day is different—from the animals that come through our door to the logistical and medical challenges that I am presented with day in and day out. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This career takes dedication, patience, knowledge and a shared commitment to providing excellence in animal health care. It’s very rewarding to be able to contribute to my community in such a meaningful way.”
