Hunt for Peacock’s owners takes flight

Lost peacock found in Caledon, Ont.

Caledon Animal Services has yet to locate the peacock.

Animal services in Caledon, Ont., is actively working to reunite a lost peacock with its owners. The exotic bird was discovered on the property of a resident in the area of Heart Lake Road and Olde Base Line Road earlier this month.

Animal services reports the bird is in good health. However, since the Caledon animal shelter does not house any livestock, the peacock has been placed in the care of a livestock keeper.

If attempts to locate the owners of the peacock continue to be unsuccessful, Caledon Animal Services plans to secure a new and suitable home for the bird. It is not available for adoption.

According to CTV News, this feathered incident is not the first time the Caledon animal shelter has encountered a unique animal. Over the years, the shelter has taken in a variety of distinctive creatures, including a 1.2-m (4-ft) savannah monitor, an African grey parrot, and even a tiger cub.

Anyone with information about the peacock or its owners is encouraged to contact the shelter.
