Ontario initiates new grant program for veterinary graduates

Provincial government hoping to increase veterinary care in underserviced communities

Recipients of the Veterinary Incentive Program will be treating livestock and poultry in areas with critical labour shortages.

Veterinary graduates in Ontario can now apply for the Veterinary Incentive Program, a grant prospect hoping to motivate newly licensed veterinarians towards the province’s northern and underserviced and communities.

The program will provide grants of up to $50,000, spread over five years, to 100 veterinarians. Those awarded will be treating livestock and poultry in areas with critical labour shortages. The initiative is part of the Grow Ontario Strategy, which aims to strengthen Ontario’s agri-food sector.

The grant is being delivered by the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC). Further information, including how to apply and eligibility requirements, can be found on the AAC website.
